It's Bye-bye Time: Saying Goodbye to being a People Pleaser
Today’s episode is a short but hard one. Let’s talk about people-pleasing.
I used to want to please the people around me, but I am at that point in my life where I care less whether or not people like me. It doesn’t have to do with age, but it’s because now I am more confident of who I am, what I’m about and my purpose. Being authentic is more important to me, and this is what I tell my clients all the time.
People pleasing is a byproduct of insecurity. We tend to want to be wanted by others, we want to be viewed as a “good” person so we do everything we think will please those around us.
I used to think that I owe a guy a kiss just because he paid for dinner, and I would feel icky and less than after being physical with them. It’s because I did not honor my gut feeling, I wasn't being true to myself.
This year we are saying “Bye-Bye” to being a people pleaser, relationships, and situations that do not sit well with us. Saying “Bye-Bye” to being a martyr just to accommodate people, saying “bye-bye” to doing things for others at our own expense.
It’s “Bye-Bye” time to people-pleasing and it’s time to put you first.
Because remember, it has to be Crazy Love, or Nothing.
